Steps To Prepare a Perfect Seafood Okra

Getting Started

So, the first step we’re going to do is the pepper mixture for the okra. For the pepper mixture, we’re going to blend onions and peppers to make our pepper mixture, and you want to blend this in a food processor but don’t let it have a smooth texture.

Then, the next step is to boil some snails along with stock flakes, which is basically stock fish but the fleshy part.

Add the pepper mixture (blend pepper and onions) and some seasoning cubes. Also add the lobster heads because it contains a lot of flavours.

You want to season this mix very well and add enough water because it is this water you’re going to be using to make your seafood okra.

Let it all get up to a boiling point and check it frequently, then cover lightly while you move to the next stage which is shredding the okra.

The next step involves blending the okra or shredding it, and by the time you are done with the shredding part the snail and stock flakes should be ready.

Now you’re going to remove the lobster head because it’s done its job which is to add flavor to the soup, and you don't want it scattered.

So, we’re going to get a pot or a pan, it’ll be considered to use a wide one so that your fish can cook perfectly. Add some palm oil and the other half of your pepper mix.

Give this a good stir fry for about 30 seconds, then add seasoning cubes.

Adding Our Listed Ingredients

Also, don’t forget that the pepper mixture sauce is already seasoned. Next is that you are going to add the snails and stock flakes and give this a light stir.

Then, put in your fish. I decided to use fresh croaker fish because it cooks in about three to four minutes, but you can use a fish of your choice, and it’s a good illustration that you can make this without the fish scattering.

Proceed to the next step, which is adding crabs because crabs make this seafood okra a perfect and complete one.

Once I do that, I’ll add a little bit of crayfish, though you can actually do without crab and crayfish, but don’t forget we are making a perfect seafood okra.

Once the fish and crabs are in, cover the pot and let everything cook for about 4 minutes.

After 4 minutes, open the pot, and you’ll see that the fish is cooked through, the crabs are ready, and everything is coming together nicely.

Rounding Up Our Cooking

At this point, it’s time to add the okra. Start by adding your thinly sliced okra first. Give it a good stir, making sure it gets evenly distributed.

Then, go ahead and add your blended or shredded okra for that extra thickness and slimy texture we all love in our seafood okra.

Now, you want to cook this for just about 2 to 3 more minutes so the okra stays fresh and green.

Don’t overcook it, or you’ll lose that nice texture. Once it’s cooked, turn off the heat, and your seafood okra is ready to serve.
